Salamatu Jidda – Fada, PhD. is a Nigerian born Conservation Scientist and Educator resident in Bangor Gwynedd, United Kingdom. Dr Salamatu is originally from Gombe State, Nigeria. Dr Salamatu did her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in University of Jos in 1997 and 2005 and she was employed from Dec 2005 till date by University of Jos, Nigeria. She proceeded to the UK in 2011 and studied for her PhD in Conservation Biology from Bangor University and she spent two years afterwards as a Research fellow with the Centre for Evidence Based Conservation, Bangor University, UK and worked as a Visiting Researcher in the School of Natural Sciences, Bangor University, UK.
In her strive to resolve Conservation and Environmental problems and achieve high quality of life and sustainable societies in Nigeria, she founded the JAVS Environmental Care Ltd, Nigeria(www.javscare.org). The company is based in Nigeria but have branches in the United Kingdom and Ghana. The company consults for Businesses, Governments, Institutions and Individuals on Conservation and Environmental Protection, with focus on specific areas like Solid Waste Management, Climate Change Education, Wildlife Conservation and Protected Areas Management, Evidence Base Conservation and GIS/ Remote Sensing.
Dr Salamatu is actively involved as a volunteering in Wildlife conservation as well. She was a Greener Gwynedd Project leader, UK and have contributed to different activities including the removal of invasive Rhododendron in Snowdonia National Park in North Wales and have contributed to General reserve maintenance, including path clearance, hedge weeding and litter picking at Eithinog North Wales Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve as well as Beach cleans in and around North West Wales, UK.
In Nigeria, Dr Salamatu volunteers as a Consultant to the Gombe State Government on several projects including the Human – wildlife conflicts in Dadin Kowa Gombe State, Nigeria., Deforestation conflicts in Pandam Game Reserve, Plateau State, Nigeria and also local community empowering projects to raise awareness for Wildlife conservation in Yankari Game Reserve (See www.tallafi.org and GyaraYankari | Facebook)

Dr Salamatu has 20 years of research and publication experience in Natural sciences and social research. Her research findings have been shared in many International conferences via oral and poster presentations in the USA, France, Morocco, Colombia, UK and other places. The researcher is a recipient of many awards, scholarships and grants including Outstanding Black Woman Achievement Award in 2015, the International Foundation for Science Collaborative grant, several Welsh Government grants, National Lottery grant, Comic Relief grants, Hub Cymru Africa, Nigerian Federal Scholarship and TET Fund Scholarship. She is currently, heavily involved in research and action plans in rural engagement and development in Nigeria.
Dr Salamatu is an Associate Fellow of the Advance HE (former Higher Education Academy) United Kingdom, a Fellow of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR), member CEEDER Review College UK, appointed member Expert Assessment Group, IUCN Green list for Nigeria and a Director/Governor of the Adult Learning Wales, UK. She has recently contributed to the development of the Socio – Economic Report of the Welsh Government BAME COVID -19 Advisory Group and is the convener for the Coalition of Biodiversity Conservationists for Nigeria.
